Who Are We

In 1986, Bob Rourk founded Printing By Design, Inc. with the goal of providing hands-on printing services for a wide range of print buying clients. His brand of personal service and hands-on knowledge helped him build a successful business with San Francisco Bay Area tech clients. Bob started working with me (Diane Sangster) in the late 90’s to handle prepress and design requests. I always appreciated Bob’s ability to solve any kind of printing issue. The attitude of doing whatever it takes to get the job done is something Bob and I shared. And one of the reasons why we worked well together over the past 20 years.

I’ve run my own design business since 2000 called Pixel-Gym. In 2006, I started working with Bob for Salesforce and his other clients on everything from event guides and direct mail, to signage, packaging and pretty much any project that needed design, prepress and printing. PBD has produced every type of job there is in the field printing. In fact, Bob and I successfully designed and printed almost 1000 projects since 2006.

Sadly, in 2021, Bob passed away. Although these past few years have been a challenge, I am fortunate and grateful because Bob taught me a lot about the in and outs of handling printing projects during our years working together. So coupled with my prepress, design and advertising background PBD remains in business. And Bob’s legacy lives on…

In addition to my close association with Bob Rourk, I’ve partnered with many printing professionals and other designers. Today, as owner of Printing By Design, Inc., I offer the same level of service and expertise that PBD is known for. Some of our clients have recently starting calling PBD – Printing By Diane. Either way, PBD is moving forward.
